Ex-Kotoko chief Dr KK Sarpong dumps football management, wants to turn preacher

Ex-Kotoko chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong plans to enroll in a theological school to become a minister of the gospel, King Faisal boss Alhaji Karim Gruzah has revealed. 

According to the out-spoken football administrator, Dr Sarpong has no plans of returning to football management but rather keen on becoming a pastor.

Alhaji Gruzah’s claims come on the heels of mounting allegations that Dr Sarpong is among a tall list of high-profile personalities who have vowed to hound incumbent Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi out of office.

According to Accra-based Happy FM, the likes of Alhaji Gruzah, Vincent Sowah-Odotei, Harry Zakkour, Randy Abbey, Kurt Okraku, Alhaji Raji, Alhaji Jawula and Ade Coker amongst others are working to bring down the administration of Nyantakyi down.

But Gruzah has rubbished such claims and insists the highly-respected Chartered Accountant plans to exchange football management with the cassock.

“God should forgive those who are propagating such falsehood. Kwesi Nyantakyi is like a brother to me and I will never do anything to bring him down,” he told Happy FM

“I called Dr KK Sarpong and virtually pleaded with him to be part of the stakeholders’ forum.

“He told me he wasn't interested in football management again and that he was going to school to become a pastor.

“So I don’t know who will go out there to make such baseless allegations.

“Nyantakyi has my full support. If I need to advise him, I will do so privately.”

Dr Sarpong has consistently repeated that he has no interest in returning to football management, much less to run for Presidency of the Ghana FA.

However, reports of his supposed interest has resurfaced following the Black Stars shambolic display at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Ghana president John Dramani Mahama has instituted a Commission of Enquiry to probe the country's shambles at the global piece in the South American country.
