Ex-Ghana international Augustine Arhinful has hailed the decision of John Pantsil to sign for second-tier side Leicester City.
The ex-West Ham and Fulham right-back opted to drop down the tiers of English football despite being heavily linked to some top-flight clubs in Europe.
Concerns have raised about his new move with fears that he might lose his national team place.
Arhinful told Happy FM: "I think he made the right choice because the championship is very competitive and popular than some of the European top leagues and that is a fact."
He added that :"It's very important he gets regular playing time and that for me is more crucial for him to maintain his place in the Black Stars.
"It doesn't make sense to warm the bench of a top-flight if you will play regular with a second division side so to speak."
