Anglo Gold Ashanti Company Limited will withdraw their funding of Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold at the end of the year if they fail to get an investor to take over the club, GHANASoccernet.com can reveal.

Anglo Gold Ashanti Company Limited hand out $25,000 every month to the defending champions for the day to day running of the club.

The mining firm opened their doors for interested investors ready to take over the management and running of the club.

But they are yet to land a substantive offer from prospective investors.

"We were told at the meeting with them last two months and almost anytime we meet them they tell us. After  December, Anglogold has no budget for the team so from now up to December, Anglogold should get an investor to take over," a source told GHANASoccernet.com.

"The problem now is that Anglogold is not operating now in Obuasi. They are not producing Gold here so they have no money now.

"The $25,000 monthly money they get for the team is a loan they always take from the Corporate Affairs Department in South Africa.

"Now Obuasi is not functioning so if you were in South Africa, will you continue to send money to Obuasi when you are not operating any longer there?"

"Even the Corporate Affairs Department decided this at the beginning of this year but it was Mr. Kelepile Dintwe and Mr. Eric Kwabi and Co. who begged for it to be extended to the end of this year and by that time they would have got an investor to take over the club. So this is the situation of things now.

"I have decided to explain so that everyone will be aware of the future of Ashgold after our several meetings with Anglogold officials."
