EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal boss Wenger lines up £10m bid for Ghana's Jeffrey Schlupp
Wenger planning to sign Schlupp

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning to table a Â£10 million bid to sign utility Ghana defender Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester City, according to reports.

The French gaffer was mentioned to be interested in signing Schlupp for Â£5 million before the summer transfer window opened but no concrete offer was tabled.

The Ghanaian's versatility is the key to his appeal. Schlupp can play as a full-back, wing-back, or even in the No 10 role. Schlupp deputised in defence for the Austrian in that fixture but is set to be used higher up the pitch again if Fuchs, as expected, returns for the home encounter with Watford this Saturday.

During those three starts for Fuchs, Schlupp scored his first goal of the season and had more attempts on goal (seven) than any other FPL defender.

Wenger has followed the German-born keenly as Ranieri has recently been able to exploit Schlupp’s attacking prowess due, in no small part, to the fine form shown by Christian Fuchs at left-back.

Wenger is itching to have Schlupp's quality in his squad and will line up a bid to tempt Leicester to release him on a raised price of Â£10 million.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is keen to hold on to the Black Stars player who is training with the Black Stars in Accra.
