Berekum Chelsea head coach Tony Lokko did not travel with team for their CAF Champions League return leg against Ahly Benghazi on Sunday, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Ghana’s leading football website can confirm the coach did not make himself available to travel with the team.

Checks have revealed he was not on the bench when the Blues drew 0-0 at home with Wa All Stars last Tuesday.

The former Amidaus Professionals coach explained his absence had nothing to do with incident which occurred after last Sunday’s first leg tie against the Libyans.

Some irate fans stormed his residence to question him why he did not win the match and nearly beat him up.

Lokko’s absence has cast doubts on the club’s ability to progress to the next stage.

The return leg encounter will be played in Tunis due to the post civil war violence in the Libyan city of Benghazi.

The corresponding fixture ended 1-1 at the Golden City Park with Obed Owusu scoring a last-gasp equalizer.
