Talented rising star Daniel Amartey is one of the surprise names in the provisional Black Stars squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, sources have hinted to GHANAsoccernet.com.

The 20-year-old has been drafted into the reported 26-man squad assembled by coach Avram Grant.

Amartey has been on the radar following his move to Danish giants FC Copenhagen at the beginning of the season.

He played in the preliminary series of the UEFA Champions League and also featured prominently for Copenhagen in their failed Europa League campaign.

Ghana coach Avram Grant has been made aware of potential of the former Djurgardens midfielder and has decided to give him a chance to impress with his first ever international call up.

Sources tell GHANAsoccernet.com that Amartey is one of three surprise players to make the provisional squad for next year’s tournament.

Grant has already presented the provisional roster to the Ghana FA for further deliberations before it is made public.

The GFA have a January 7 deadline to present the squad to CAF.
