Ghanaian-born former German international Gerald Asamoah has damaged his expensive VW Phaeton Limousine car after crashing it into a chestnut tree while he was drink-driving on Monday night, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

The 35-year-old Schalke 04 striker was heavily drunk and was lucky to escape with his life after the highly dangerous accident which happened at North Rhine- Westphalia.

GHANAsoccernet.com can also confirm that, German authorities ahead seized the driving license of the German soccer star and he would not be allowed behind the steering wheel for approximately three months.

Asamoah, who was highly under the influence of alcohol drove recklessly after a night club bashing in Gelsenkirchen, had his ride veered off the Westphalia road and crashed into a nearby chestnut tree before tossing back into the road.

The incident could have cost the Germany national team player his life but, he was lucky to escape with just minor injuries.
