Ghana defender Daniel Opare has returned to training at German Bundesliga side after a six-week injury lay off, Africanfootball.com has exclusively reported.

The right-back joined the rest of his teammates last Wednesday for the first since picking up an injury on his first work-out with August in mid-August.

Opare, a new signing on a free transfer, suffered a tear in his right thigh.

The uncertainty surrounding his return forced the club to exclude him from their Europa League squad.

The 24-year-old hopes he can recapture his athleticism and break into the Augsburg first team.

"It was a long time," says Opare. "It felt really good to go out there to train. When injured, as a new player in the new club in the first practice, it is really difficult. I was very disappointed, but everyone has helped me to keep my head up."

Opare was signed to replace compatriot Baba Rahman who was sold to English champions Chelsea.

He can play of both left and right.
