Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has expressed shock over the sudden death of former Orlando Pirates teammate Senzo Meyiwa.

Dauda was restricted to a bench warner at Pirates when he joined them last August due to the form of Meyiwa.

Meyiwa, 27, visited girlfriend Kelly Khumalo when he was shot by unidentified gunmen and was pronounced dead when he was rushed to the hospital.

Dauda says his death has hit him hard.

“Truth be told Meyiwa was a great guy whom I learnt a lot from,” Dauda told GHANASoccernet.com.

“We spoke a lot despite the genuine competition that existed between us and even I when I came to Ghana we still hold talks about how we can improve our self.

“His death has come to me as a serious shock.

“I spoke to him after their game against Nigeria and he was telling me how excited he was at finally getting a chance with the national after long spells out.

“I am really devastated at the moment.”
