Portugal-based defender David Addy has been handed a call-up into the Ghana squad for the friendly against Montenegro next month, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The left-back, who plays for Guimaraes, is among the players coach Kwesi Appiah has chosen to observe before he names his final World Cup squad.

Club insiders have exclusively told Ghana's leading football news outlet GHANAsoccernet.com that they have received a letter from the Ghana FA inviting Addy for the match.

The 23-year-old will get another opportunity to impress with competition for places intense with Daniel Opare, Baba Abdul Rahman, Harrison Afful, Godfred Saka and  Samuel Inkoom all in contention for the position.

Addy has impressed heavily for the Portuguese side but must work his socks off to grab a ticket to the World Cup.

The Black Stars will use the international friendly against Montenegro at the City Stadium in Podgorica on March 5 as a dress rehearsal towards the tournament.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands that a  number of new faces are likely to be  called-up into to justify their inclusions in the team.

Ghana will face  Germany, Portugal and the United States in Group G at the 2014 World Cup.
