Abdul-Majeed Waris is likely to miss the match against Canada

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris suffered injury while playing for French side Lorient over the weekend and he is likely to miss next week's friendly international against Canada, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The 24-year-old much-awaited return to the national team is likely to be put on hold at the French club are seeking to treat the attacker for the injury suffered on Sunday.

Waris was taken off in Lorient's important 3-2 victory over Bordeaux on Sunday with what was suspected to be a thigh injury which needs immediate attention.

He was replaced by Romain Philippoteaux in the 74th minute of the game which left doctors of the club seeking for a quick treatment.

He has not played for the Black Stars since he was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea in January.

It was hoped he would return for the friendly against Canada as he is in a great form after scoring three goal in the season so far in the French top-flight.
