Published on: 02 October 2015

Finland-based defender Gideon Baah has been handed his debut call up to the Black Stars for this month’s friendly match against Canada, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye of coach Avram Grant due to his consistent displays with HJK Helsinki.

Baah has been a regular performer for the Finnish champions since joining them from FC Honka in 2014.

He featured for Klubi in the playoff stage of this year’s UEFA Champions League following their domestic success last season.

Helsinki however failed to progress to the group stage of the Champions League and were also eliminated from the Europa League by Russian club Kuban Krasnodar.

Coach Avram Grant however wants to take a closer look at the former Asante Kotoko left-back.

He is amongst the list of players forwarded to the Ghana FA for processing of travel documents for the friendly against Canada to be played on October 13 in Washington.

Ghana is likely to secure another friendly in the US more likely against Peru as the Black Stars prepare for their opening World Cup qualifier in November.
