Hearts of Oak are leading Asante Kotoko in the race for Medeama midfield machine Kwame Boahene, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively report.

Boahene has emerged strongly on the radar of the two Ghanaian giants after an exhilarating two seasons in Tarkwa.

Both clubs have tabled an official bid for the services of the star midfielder but it appears Hearts could win the race for his signature.

"I can confirm to you that Kotoko have written to us regarding Kwame Boahene," he told Kumasi-based Silver FM

"I can also confirm to you that Hearts have done same. We are looking at the best option for the player.

"There are other clubs abroad who are also interested. But in specific reference to the two local clubs, one is leading as far as the race is concerned.

"I won't tell you which of them is leading,but is clearly in the need because they have been quick and smart in the whole process.

"But in transfer, you can never be too sure. And so we have to wait a bit longer to see how it pants out in the coming days.

Hearts are keen to secure the midfielder's signing as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League crown.

The capital-based side have already signed Medeama midfielder Malik Akowuah and few others.
