The absence of striker Yakubu Mohammed and midfielder Bernard Morrison has generated a lot of negative comment from many Ashgold fans but captain Lawrenec Lartey insists that the team can still win the league trophy regardless of the absence of the duo.

According to the captain, the contribution of the two is part of the reasons why they are still occupying the top spot on the league but remains adamant that it will not affect the team negatively.

"It is true Morrison and Yakubu have scored important goals to get us this far, their absence will still not derail our title winning ambition", Lawrence told Ghanasoccernet.

"I am not saying that they are not important. All am saying is that their absence has inspired us to win the trophy to prove to the fans that even in their absence we can still win the league".

Most of the fans of the Obuasi based club disagreed with the management for transferring the players at a time that the club is left with two matches to win the league but the captain thinks they can win the league without the two.

The two have scored a total of 18 goals out of the 33 goals scored by the club with Yakubu and Morrison scoring 11 and 7 respectively.
