Lorient striker Abdul Majeed Waris has received a call up for the Ghana's friendly match against Canada, GHANAsoccernet .com can exclusively reveal.

The 23-year old is being invited as a backup for captain Asamoah Gyan who is battling a hamstring injury ahead of the clash to be played in Washington on October 13.

Waris has hit top form recently after returning from a wrist injury which ruled him out for three weeks of action for the French Ligue 1 side.

The former Trapzonspor striker’s outstanding performance for the French side has seen him scoring three goals in five matches helping them to 10th on the table after eight matches.

Waris magnificent performance was given a boost after he guided Lorient to their first Ligue one win after four matches.

The in-form striker has been missing in action for the Black Stars due to injuries but has recuperated to pick his form ahead of the team’s preparation for the 2018 World Cu qualifier which will commence next month.
