Medeama will pull out from the MTN FA Cup if the decision to dock them cash incentives is not withdrawn, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The FA Cup holders are livid with the decision of the FA Cup committee to fine them 1, 250 Ghana cedis for allegedly refusing television coverage of their round of 32 win over second-tier Pure Joy.
The ambitious Ghanaian side insist they did nothing wrong and do not deserve the punishment being meted out to them.
Officials of the Tarkwa-based side are angry with authorities for handing them the punishment without recourse to them.
Chief Executive James Essilfie has reacted angrily to the fine and has threatened to pull the plucks on their involvement in the last 16.
“We have been given a raw deal and we’re surely not happy about. The committee did not listen to us and just went ahead to impose the fine,†he told GHANAsoccernet.com
“We did not stop any television coverage. There are laws which govern the game and so it’s imperative we all follow to the hilt.
“Pure Joy brought their own cameramen to cover the match, which we disallowed. It’s not an affront to the rules governing the game.
“You can only allow designated cameras from the FA Cup committee or the FA itself, not an opposing club.
“We’ll not be cowed into submission by anybody. We have been in this game for a while and we know our left from right.
“Let me inform you that we intend boycotting the competition if the decision is not rescinded.
“To be honest with you, it’s not worth it if that’s how clubs will be treated.
"What does the law of natural justice say? Because someone make a complain, you stand on that and pass judgment? That is a sorry situation we find ourselves.
“We’ll pull out of the competition over this bogus fine and I'm not joking about it."
They have drawn second-tier Okwahu United in the round of 16.
Medeama are representing Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the FA Cup last year.
