Nantes' coach Claudio Ranieri is keen to sign Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey on loan in the January transfer window.

Ranieri took over the modest French club from Sérgio Conceição, who left the club to join Portuguese side FC Porto during the summer.

The 66-year-old's reign has been successful thus far as he has guided the club 5th on the standings after 16 games.

However, Ranieri is determined to bolster his squad in the winter transfer window and has targeted versatile Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey, who has endured a torrid time since manager Claude Puel replaced Craig Shakespeare in the dug-out.

The Canaries want to sign the versatile guardsman on a six-month loan deal and they are due to hold talks with officials at the King Power Stadium next week.

Ghana's leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm that Amartey is excited about linking up with wily Italian coach who bought him from Danish Super League outfit FC Copenhagen in 2016.

Amartey has not tasted Premier League football since Claude Puel took over the reins of the Foxes in October though he’s made three appearances in the Carabao Cup.
