Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is being chased by the Russian club Rubin Kazan

Russian giants Rubin Kazan have slapped in a $5m offer to sign Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Kazan have officially sent in the offer on Wednesday to his Spanish club Espanyol seeking to gazump other clubs interested in the talented player.

But officials of Espanyol have told GHANAsoccernet.com that they are unlikely to release the player for the $5m that the Russians want to sign the Ghanaian for.

The Ghanaian is said to be interested in a move that would enhance his career which means he wants to play in some of the top leagues in Europe.

Wakaso, who hit global headlines for his heroics at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, has been interesting several clubs in England, Spain and Germany.

The highly rated Ghana international has been on the radar of the Catalan giants Barcelona for sometime, and has also attracted admiring glances from English sides Arsenal and Chelsea.

With Alex Song’s future far from certain at the Nou Camp, speculation that the Spanish club are on the lookout for midfield additions has gone into overdrive.

With competition for places far stiffer than at the Emirates Stadium, Song has been restricted to just 11 La Liga starts, three of which have been at centre-back.

Barcelona were said to be plotting a move for Wakaso following his excellent showing for Ghana at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and for Espanyol in La Liga.

Although he is regarded as a key first-team player by Espanyol, the Catalan club are reportedly willing to listen to offers in the region of $30m.

Wakaso has four years remaining on his contract with Espanyol

Despite the claims by Wakaso he wants to see out his contract, Espanyol could force him to move if the deal is financially lucrative.
