EXPOSED: Sports minister LIES again over GFA, ministry knew about Ghana-Canada friendly
Deputy sports minister Oppong Asamoah

The deputy Sports Minister Vincent Oppong Asamoah has LIED again over matters concerning the Ghana FA as his claim that the ministry has no official knowledge of a friendly between the Black Stars and Canada next week has been exposed as FALSE.

The rabble rouser, who falsely claimed that the GFA did not submit a budget for the Black Stars opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius, went on rampage in the media this week claiming the ministry officially had no official knowledge the match on Tuesday was taking place.

However, a letter dated 5th October making rounds on social media shows that the ministry received and signed an official letter from the GFA informing the ministry about the game.

This came three clears days before Oppong-Asamoah told Ultimate Radio in Kumasi that the ministry had no knowledge about the game.

Insiders even revealed that the sports ministry led by the Minister introduced the agent who started the deal for the proposed USA or Canada friendly to the GFA two months and to claim they had no knowledge of the game smacks mischief.

The ministry even wanted the Black Stars to play Malaysia in addition to the Canada/USA which was publicly announced by the Sports Ministry Mustapha Ahmed but FIFA laws won't permit to friendlies to be played in two different continents in a short period of one week.

Despite this, the deputy Sports Minister Vincent Oppong Aasamoah claims the Ghana FA did not officially inform his outfit about the warm-up gme ahead of their second qualifying group game to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We at the ministry were not notified officially by the FA of this friendly game for the senior national team of the state and we have accordingly registered our displeasure officially with the Football Association,” Asamoah told Ultimate 106.9FM in Kumasi.

He added: “I can imagine how the media would have dealt with the ministry if it had been the other way round.”

The four-time African champions will engage the Canucks of Canada on Tuesday in a friendly in the USA. The Black Stars have assembled in Washington ahead of the friendly against Canada.

This the the second time Oppong Asamoah has lied over the GFA after claiming that the Black Stars bonuses for the Mauritius game delayed because the budget was presented late.

Record at the ministry later exposed the deputy minister to have lied as the budget was presented THREE MONTHS before the game.

This latest stand-off shows that the cracks between the ministry and the GFA is widening after insiders reports showed that the tensions were mounting over recent public statement against the GFA by the ministry.

The minister and deputy have been accused of taking decisions without consulting the GFA with similar accusations have been made towards the federation.

The ministry took the decision to exclude the GFA from negotiations over bonuses at the All African Games which led to the shabby treatment of the female national team the Black Queens over unpaid bonuses which led to some unrest until the the country's President John Mahama intervened.

The ministry is already unpopular in sports media circles after slapping a ruling on the Black Stars that their bonuses will be reduced in a take-it-or-leave-it approach which was widely condemned as militaristic.
