FA Cup Committee pledges exciting edition

The FA Cup Committee has promised a more exciting competition this season.

This pledge was made at the launch of the 2012/13 MTN FA Cup Competition at the Golden Tulip Hotel on Tuesday.

Teams in Ghana's third tier league will begin this season's competition after the official draw slated for December 13 is made.

They will then be followed by teams in the second tier before the Premiership clubs join in.

Vice Chairman of the FA Cup Committee, Owuahene Acheampong disclosed at the launch of an improved financial package for the team that will emerge winners of this year’s edition.

"The number one thing that the FA Cup will offer this year is excitement galore," he said.

"Apart from that, there is a significant improvement of the price package for the winners.

"However this (improved package) will be revealed at a later program along the way."

The FA Cup was resurrected by the Ghana FA two seasons ago after a 10-year absence.

It is the only competition that sees teams from the lower divisions able to compete with teams in the higher tiers.

Second tier club Nania FC won the competition on its return in the 2010/11 season before Premiership side New Edubiase won it last season.

The winner of the FA Cup competition will represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup.
