Asamoah Gyan says Black Stars players are united

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has dismissed claims there are factions in the Black Stars squad following the team’s disappointing showing at the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars are in challenging times as they look to win back the love and affection of the Ghanaian fans who are infuriated by the manner in which the team crashed out of the finals staged in Brazil.

The Black Stars camp in Brazil was plagued by agitation of players over delayed payment in appearance fees.

There were also instances of player indiscipline, leading to the indefinite suspension placed on Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Many have since perceived several factions within the Black Stars team as they prepare to begin their qualifiers for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

But captain Asamoah Gyan says there are no truths in these circulating rumours and that the Black Stars remain a united front.

“We are in camp and it is the Black Stars camp and we have only one camp,” he said.

“I don’t know where these things are coming from.”

Ghana hosts Uganda in their opening 2015 AFCON qualifier on Saturday.

The Black Stars will then make the short trip to Lome to face Togo in their second qualifier on September 10.
