A former director of Asante Kotoko Kenedy Agyapong has praised Ghanaians for their wonderful display of patriotism during last Friday's final World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

It was demonstrated in the massive support they gave the senior  national team against the Chipolopolo at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi two weeks ago.

He underlined the need to use sports, particularly football to unify the nation, saying, the ability of sports to clam tension was vividly displayed during the Ghana- Zambia game.

According to him, the commitment shown by Ghanaians before, during and after the match was inspiring, adding: "I was so proud to be a Ghanaian. I have known Ghanaians to love football, and their national teams, but this support were extraordinary.

"The support was all over the place from Ghanaians and we need such support to qualify for the World Cup in Brazil next year," he added.

Kenpong also praised the government and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for their efforts in making the victory possible for Ghana.

Ghana beat Zambia 2-1 to top the group and qualify for the final play-off.

The Black Stars will play Egypt in a two-leg play-off for a place in the World Cup final.
