Fatau, Clottey start against Egypt - Asamoah at left-back

Published on: 10 January 2013

Fatau Dauda and Emmanuel Clottey have been handed surprise starting roles in Ghana’s friendly match against Egypt on Thursday.

The game will be the first warm up game for the Black Stars ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Goalkeeper Fatau Duada has been favoured ahead of regular no.1 Adam Kwarasey while Clottey will lead the Ghana attack in place of first choice striker Asamoah Gyan.

Kwadwo Asamoah will be played on the left-side of defence – making do of coach Akwasi Appiah’s promise to try the Juventus midfielder as an option at left-back.

Jerry Akaminko will partner John Boye in central defence with Harrision Afful manning his more familiar right-back position.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Mubarak Wakaso will partner as anchors in central midfield with Rabiu Mohammed and Albert Adomah playing on the wings.

The game being played in Abu Dhabi will kick off at 9pm local time, 17:00 GMT.

The Black Stars will after this match engage Tunisia in another warm up game three days later.
