Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda gets new coach at Orlando Pirates

Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has been handed a career lifeline at Orlando Pirates with new coach Vladimir Vermozovic set to take over after being granted a work permit.

The Black Stars shot-stopper has struggled for games under then coach Roger De Sa.

Dauda’s bench-warming duties continued after De Sa’s exit when Eric Tinkler was handed temporary reigns.

The 28-year-old could be favoured under new coach Vermozovic who will officially take over next week after finally being granted a work permit.

"He just received his work permit and I can confirm that he can now officially assume his duties as head of the technical team," Pirates administrator Floyd Mbele revealed.

"He will not be on the bench on Saturday when we take on University of Pretoria, but from Sunday he officially takes over from Eric Tinkler who has been our interim coach."

Vermezovic, an ex-Kaizer Chiefs boss, was recruited by Bucs following Roger de Sa's exit from Mayfair at the end of January.

Dauda could get the chance to dethrone regular Senzo Meyiwa with all players keen to impress the new boss.
