Enyimba FC shot stopper Fatau Dauda has raise an arm in the air hailing C.K. Akonnor for guiding his former side AshGold from the claws of relegation insisting it was a brave decision.

Dauda who left the side for new experience with Nigerian giants Enyimba FC monitored the performance of the side in the just ended Ghana Premier League and thinks Akonnor deserves plaudits for his massive job.

Akonnor was poached frim Dreams FC following the resignation of Bashiru Hayford as head coach of the side, a decision many felt was dangerous for his reputation.

But the Dreams FC trainer accepted the challenged and guided the side from relegation on one of their most difficult season in the Ghana Premier League.

And Fatau believes it takes a brave and courageous coach like Akonnor to achieve such a feat.

“At the time he was employed, almost every coach was running away. And most coaches will not even accept to come on board. But C.K took that bold decision and risked guiding the side out of relegation and he has done it,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I have known Akonnor as a coach with Eleven Wise with Odartey Lamptey as his assistant. We all witnessed what they did with the club.

“I knew he was a great coach but the challenge was too dangerous since AshGold were almost being relegated.

“But he has succeeded in guiding the side out of trouble and has shown the kind of coach he is by guiding the side to safety,” he added.

Akonnor is however expected to return to his former club Dreams FC since he was only dashed out to the Miners to guide the safety from relegation.
