Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda failed to break into Chippa United's first team squad after returning from the international breaks, sparking new concerns over his starting role at the South African club.

The 28-year-old was in between the sticks for the Black Stars against Uganda but was axed for the 3-2 win over Togo in Lome as he dropped to bench and was expected to command a first team place at Chippa United after his limited activity.

But he returned to his club on Thursday and failed to break into their first team squad for their 2-0 away triumph over Moroka Swallows on Sunday, a situation that could be attributed to fatigue.

South African keeper Mbongeni Mzimela who claimed Dauda's place in the game is vastly experienced in the league after playing five seasons on the top-flight.

Dauda must work to regain his first choice gloves at Chippa or risk suffering the fate he endured at Orlando Pirates in his one-season spell at the club but Mzimela is bent on fighting for his role at the club.
