Ex Ghana midfielder Mohammed Gargo believes the ‘temporal’ axing of Fatau Dauda from the Black Stars squad will help the side in the long run.

The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was left out of the Ghana squad that will be facing Montenegro in an international friendly on March 5. The 28-year-old has struggled for a regular first team place since joining the South African giants.

Many believe Dauda’s axing for the March 5 friendly is the beginning of the end of his fairy tale affair with the Black Stars team.

But former midfielder Mohammed Gargo says the former AshantiGold shot-stopper’s exclusion is only temporal which will afford coach Kwesi Appiah an opportunity to see other goalkeepers before the World Cup.

“I think dropping Dauda for this friendly is good because this is not going to any big or tough match for us, it is just a friendly,” he told Radio Gold.

“The coaches now all about Fatau Dauda and they will want to find other substitute before the World Cup.”

Dauda impressed to win the no.1 starting role in the Black Stars team at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

He was used throughout the qualifiers where he conceded five goals in eight matches to help Ghana qualify for its third straight appearance at the World Cup.
