FC Twente technical director Ted van Leeuwen has raved about the qualities of Ghana youth star Thomas Agyepong following his loan signing from Manchester City.

The 19-year-old joins Ghanaian youngster Shadrach Eghan and will spend the entire 2015/16 season at the club.

Agyepong, who was a member of the 2015 Ghana U20 squad but was ruled out of the final squad by injury, will not be ready for the Dutch top-flight which begins next week.

But the former Ghana U17 captain will be ready to play in September.

The former Right to Dream Academy graduate’s incredible abilities and versatility on the wings allows him to play at either sides of the flanks – a quality that has excited fans and technical team of the club.

van Leeuwen explained why Twente signed him though he will not be fit for the start of the season and raved about his qualities.

"Thomas is not deployed at the start of the league unfortunate, but not a reason to pass up this opportunity to us. This can be a very special player in the Eredivisie. An exciting player of high caliber, for whom the people come to the stadium: fast, explosive, comfortable on the ball, focused and a hard worker, too defensive," he told FC Twente official website.

He is courageous, optimistic, always wants the ball well and is physically strong. Also, statistics show a high return. A pleasant personality and a winner besides, that's not for nothing the captain of Ghana's national youth teams. Manchester City has big plans for him and found him to be launched by FC Twente in the Eredivisie," he completed.
