Ghana head coach Avram Grant is set to announce his squad for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mozambique next week.

More often than not, home-based talents have not managed to gatecrash his squad for games.

However his scouting team must produce a favourable report about these seven Ghana Premier League players who have flourished since the start of the season.

GHANAsoccernet.com's El Akyereko picks the best seven outfield players who must not miss out of the former Chelsea manager's squad for the double-header against the Southern African side.

Baba Mahama (TECHIMAN CITY FC) Central midfielder

There is no doubt about the qualities of the City midfielder who cemented the huge media hype around him with a rasping finish against Sekondi Hasaacas in the match day 2 of the Ghana Premier League. Aside his popularity for sharing a surname with Ghana's President, the crafted midfielder is the Ghana league's secret Frank Lampard. He can easily slot in to the Black Stars's attacking midfield and vie for a place in the Israeli's squad for the 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mozambique later this month.

Richard Akrofi (HEARTS OF OAK) Central defender

Akrofi remains the best central defender in the Ghana Premier League so far. Strong and superior in aerial power-play. The 23-year-old who moved to his boyhood city from Wa All Stars before the start of the season, has benefited hugely from the renowned physical works of Japanese tactician who is changing the face of the Phobian team. Akrofi has formed a solid partnership with Ivorian Robin Gnagne, who captains the former African champions. With his presence, Hearts are yet to concede a goal after 180 minutes into the start of the league and remains the best defence in the competition. Jonathan Mensah's lack of form at club level could translate into his performance at international duties and Akrofi can provide a stronger surety.

Evans Mensah (INTER ALLIES) Left Winger

The prodigious youngster had the right way to send his message of intent to the former Chelsea manager and his technical team at the Tema Sports Stadium. There has been raving reviews about the 19-year-old's qualities following his dazzling performance for Allies in their 2-2 stalemate with newly-promoted Dreams FC. Gifted with vision and artistry, Mensah looks deadly on the wings and would provide the best of competitions to Solomon Asante and any other fringe player in Grant's team. He has already won two MVP awards from three games played.

Samuel Tetteh (WAFA) Right Winger

Tetteh became the first player in this season's campaign to hit a treble after masterminding the mauling of Sekondi Hasaacas at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in match day 3. The 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup Ghana winger has already been capped once after debuting in the 2-0 win over Comoros at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Tetteh has netted four goals and sits at the top of the Ghana Premier League's top scorers chart. His place in Grant's squad must be cemented.

Malik Akowuah (MEDEAMA) Central midfielder

Powerful and large in central midfield. Against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi, the former AshantiGold midfielder struck home a sensational free-kick from 25 yards to highlight his some of his abundant qualities. Akowuah possesses the eye of an eagle in midfield and likes to steer the midfield according to his own master plan. He is a true talent whose confidence has been boosted with his performance in the league so far. With Wakaso Mubarak injured and likely to miss the Mozambique clash, Avram must shift his focus to Tarkwa instead of bringing the bench-warming Edwin Gyimah from Orlando Pirates.

Amos Korankye (SEKONDI HASAACAS) Right-back

Although there is massive competition at Ghana's lateral defence with Schlupp and Rahman providing a strong tower but the Sekondi Hasaacas defender has justified his defensive qualities and has proven that he could even score from range. Against Techiman City, the former Local Black Stars defender scored from a rocketing pile driver from 30 yards - a goal that is strong contention to win the goal of the season. Grant's number 2 - Maxwell Konadu clearly knows about the qualities of Korankye and must influence his call-up his debut call-up.

Samudeen Ibrahim (HEARTS OF OAK) Attacking midfielder

A name that cannot be left out. After just a game on the top-flight, Samudeen has become a household name among local football watchers. Liken to Real Madrid's Luka Modric, the 20-year-old's talent is marvelous and he stole the show on his debut Premier League appearance against New Edubiase in the opening day of the season. 'Mudeeeeeen' as he is affectionately referred to by Premier League fans won the MVP Award after the end of the Division One league season last term and looks set to translate his form to boyhood club. Ghana has not seen a true ball juggler since Stephen Appiah and the youngster qualities keep drawing fans back into the stadium. Ghana FA Communication Director Ibrahim Sannie as well as former Ghana captain Joe Addo have both raved about the qualities of the promising talent.
