Ghanaian striker Dominic Oduro is considering switching allegiance to the United States of America after constantly being overlooked for international call-ups.
Oduro, who plays for Major League side Montreal Impact, is capped once after featuring for the Africans during an international friendly against Chile in 2012.
The 29-year-old has since not been called up despite churning out impressive performances in the MLS with Chicago Fire and latest Montreal Impact.
ââ¬ÅI am a Ghanaian. I was born and raised there. I hope to earn a call up to play for the Black Stars but if things don't change, something will happen," Oduro told Goal.
The former Toronto FC man has revealed heââ¬â¢s frustrated with the lack of attention and hints of switching allegiance if he is continuous snub by the West Africans.
ââ¬ÅI still need to work hard and stay focused on Major League Soccer, but will be changing my nationality this year if I fail to earn an invitation from Ghana. Whether I will play for USA or Canada will be a subject for discussion later.
ââ¬ÅChanging my nationality is currently not a priority because I want to concentrate on the ongoing season until the end. A lot of things are in the pipeline.
The e x- Columbus Crew attacker can switch allegiance as friendly games do not commit a player to one country according to FIFA rules amended in 2009.
