South Africa U20 coach Thabo Senong has emphasised the need for belief, dedication and focus as recipe for success in any professional project.

The Amajita open their campaign Ghana on Monday before playing Mali on Thursday, 12 March before rounding off their group stage assignment against Zambia on Sunday, 15 March.

Amajita have been in Senegal for over a week but four players joined the rest of the squad on Tuesday.

They are Supersport United trio of goalkeeper, Dumisani Msibi, defender Kabelo Seriba and midfielder Morne Nel together with Bloemfontein Celtics striker Dumisane Zuma.

“We are ready for the games. When you have desire to do well, have a good spirit and you are united in a common cause, results will take care of themselves,” said Senong.

The youthful mentor said while there is always anxiety that goes with the opening game, the entire technical staff had strategised on how to normalise tensions.

“The philosophy on settling nerves in a coaching environment is normally to get an early goal. We are not in an easy group; far from it, but we have come here to do well, qualify for New Zealand and pick it from there.”

Senong said he was geared to do well for the team but refused to put his charges under pressure by trying to emulate Amajimbos who finished runners-up in the CAF African Youth championships in Niger.

He added that part of the secret in team success is teamwork adding that during the week-long stay in Senegal he had managed to mould the team into a good unit.

“This is the future; we are building the future South African team. It is never about me but developing the future generation and my main aim is to leave a lasting impression. I want to contribute to the nation building,” said Senong.

The Amajita mentor said what he would like to see after the tournament was to see most of the players playing regularly within their clubs and most should secure overseas contracts if all goes well.

Senong is mindful of putting his charges under pressure with thoughts of emulating Amajimbos, who recently finished second in a similar-styled CAF event in Niger.

He added: “This is the future; we are building the future South African team. It is never about me but developing the future generation and my main aim is to leave a lasting impression. I want to contribute to the nation building.”

The semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify for the Fifa U-20 World Cup, taking place in May in New Zealand.

German side Schalke to reduce transfer fee to allow flop Ghanaian star Kevin-Prince Boateng to leavehttp://ghanasoccernet.com/german-side-schalke-to-reduce-transfer-fee-to-allow-flop-ghanaian-star-kevin-prince-boateng-to-leave/ http://ghanasoccernet.com/german-side-schalke-to-reduce-transfer-fee-to-allow-flop-ghanaian-star-kevin-prince-boateng-to-leave/#comments Fri, 06 Mar 2015 06:51:50 +0000 http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/?p=284866
German side Schalke to reduce transfer fee to allow flop Ghanaian star Kevin-Prince Boateng to leave

Kevin-Prince Boateng has not been in good form

German side Schalke are determined to offer their flop Ghana international midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng to seeking clubs for cut-down price at the end of the season in a bid to cut massive cost of paying him an annual salary of 8m Euros.

Schalke chief Horst Heldt is willing to accept their losses by accepting between 4 to 5 million Euros as the transfer fee from interested clubs to keep the financial loss to a minimum.

In the summer of 2013, the Ghana international cost 10m Euros from AC Milan so they are willing to take a loss of 5m Euros to allow Boateng to leave, reports the respected weekly football magazine ‘Kicker’.

After the derby disgrace against Dortmund, coach Roberto Di Matteo is already practicing new systems without Boateng as he formed his 3-5-2 formation with the Ghanaian a central part which was unsuccessful with three defeats in the last four competitive games.

But the Italian coach is now using a more attacking formation of 4-2-3-1 or 4 -3-3 without the Ghanaian in his plans.

Schalke coach Roberto di Matteo and his management are planning next season without the controversial star player.

Boateng is also not averse to the change, according to the report, which will quicken the pace of severing of the contract between the two parties.

When Boateng joined Schalke two seasons ago from AC Milan he was regarded as the great hope for the German side who were seeking to improve their profile.

He was able to meet the expectations especially in his first season but this term has been disastrous for the Ghana international which has resulted in the decision to let him leave.

Boateng joined the club in 2013 from the Italian giants in 2013.

He has been injured for most of this season thus making only 13 appearances in the Bundesliga and has not scored a goal for the club this season.

Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel may be struggling to make an impact on the field in Italy, but the Dutch youngster looks to have a tight group of friends, all with something in common.

Van Ginkel, who is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan, took to Instagram to post an image of himself alongside former Chelsea stars Alex and Michael Essien.

Unfortunately, Van Ginkel’s season has been plagued with injury, giving the 22-year-old little time to make an impact at the San Siro.

He has managed just six appearances for Filippo Inzaghi’s side, but seemed in high spirits as he chauffeured Milan team-mates Alex and Essien to training on Thursday.

Van Ginkel would surely love to emulate Essien’s fruitful career at Stamford Bridge which saw the Ghanaian midfielder win nine major honours including two Premier League titles during his spell in England.

And although Alex spent just four years at Chelsea, the Brazilian still managed to collect two FA Cup medals and was part of Carlo Ancelotti’s 2009-10 double wining squad.

Reports in Italy suggest that Chelsea are set to lose out on the £1million they would have been expecting to earn from Milan as part of Van Ginkel’s loan deal as the Dutchman looks unlikely to make the 20 appearances needed to trigger the amount.

Liverpool, Arsenal must fork out £10m to sign Ghanaian youngster Donsah, stringent new work permit rulehttp://ghanasoccernet.com/liverpool-arsenal-must-fork-out-10m-to-sign-ghanaian-youngster-donsah-stringent-new-work-permit-rule/ http://ghanasoccernet.com/liverpool-arsenal-must-fork-out-10m-to-sign-ghanaian-youngster-donsah-stringent-new-work-permit-rule/#comments Fri, 06 Mar 2015 05:43:59 +0000 http://www.ghanasoccernet.com/?p=284856 Talented Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Donsah's proposed move to England, with top clubs Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested in his services , could be scuppered by a new UK work permit regulation that requires clubs to pay £10m in transfer fees to be able to sign a non-EU player.

Godfred Donsah

Talented Ghanaian midfielder Godfred Donsah’s proposed move to England, with top clubs Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested in his services , could be scuppered by a new UK work permit regulation that requires clubs to pay £10m in transfer fees to be able to sign a non-EU player.

The agent of Cagliari midfielder has confirmed that the four top Premier League clubs trying to sign the Ghanaian midfielder.

Speaking to reporters, Oliver Arthur said: “There’s lots of interest in Donsah right now, especially from clubs in the UK.

“Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have made official enquiries about him”.

The four English Premier League sides may be interested, but it will be a very difficult signing to pull off as the youngster will need a work-permit.

Donsah is uncapped at international level, which is usually a pre-requisite when applying for a permit, and according to the Evening Standard:

“Home Office rules are expected to be made tighter during the summer, meaning an English club could be certain of securing a work permit for a non-EU player only by buying him for at least £10 million”.

£10m for an 18-year old with only 18 appearances to his name? No chance.

A deal like that is a massive gamble, but Liverpool coach Rodgers already spent £10m on the similarly-aged Divock Origi, so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

Some info about Donsah:

* Central midfielder, who can also play right-back.
* 18-years old. 19 in June.
* Current deal expires in 2020.
* This season: 2 goals/1 assist in 18 apps.

One the names conspicuously absent on the alleged list of interested Premier League team is Chelsea, which will disappoint Donsah as he supports the club.

African Youth Championship hosts Senegal received a confidence boost ahead of their continental campaign after recording two back-to-back wins over South Africa and Zambia in warm-up friendlies.

They defeated ‘Amajita’ 1-0 at the Diambars Institute last Saturday, thanks to a lone goal from Ibrahima Wadji just before the break, before sealing a victory by the same scoreline over the young Chipolopolo at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium on Tuesday, with a second-half winner from Alassane Diouf.

For their third appearance at the junior tournament, the Senegalese will be looking for a last four achievement and a qualification for the U-20 FIFA World Cup New-Zealand 2015, after finishing 8th in 1993 and 6th in 1995.

National coach Joseph Koto called-up a 21-man list including 9 foreign-based players for the show-piece event.

“We travelled inside and outside the country and have set up the best possible squad,” Koto confirmed at a press conference.

Senegal will kick off the 19th edition of the African Youth Championship against Nigeria at the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar on Sunday, before facing Côte d’Ivoire on March 11 and Congo on March 14 in their other Group A encounters.

Carlos Roberto Paullet

Ex-Medeama coach Carlos Roberto Paullete has exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com he’s been contacted for the Asante Kotoko job.

The Peruvian claims he’s been approached by top officials of the club to replace Mas-Ud Dramani.

“Some top Kotoko officials have called me twice to take up the job,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“And so I am waiting for them as we speak. It will be great honour to return to Ghana and manage one of the biggest traditions in Africa.

“It will be a dream come true for me. Hopefully they will get back to me so I can take the offer.”

However the claim by the former South End United trainer is in sharp contrast with Kotoko’s official position of not engaging a foreign coach.

The Porcupine Warriors have ruled out signing an expatriate as pressure mounts on the management team to find Dramani’s successor.

Ex-Hearts trainer David Duncan was initially tipped for the role but that move has been put on ice with reports suggesting he’s not favoured by the club’s Life Patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11.

The former Ashantigold trainer seems to have carved an irreparable damage on his association with Kotoko following alleged unsavory comments he made against the club during his spells at Ashantigold and Hearts.
