FIFA blocks Asamoah's move to Tanzania

Young Africans' (Yanga) Ghanaian striker Kenneth Asamoah's chances of playing for the Tanzanian Vodacom league leaders remains slim after he failed to secure an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the world football governing body, FIFA.

According to a report posted in the Daily News, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer, Florian Kaijage told reporters yesterday that there has been a contradiction of data submitted by Yanga and Asamoah's former club FK Jagodina of Serbia on a newly web-based transfer matching system designed by FIFA.

"The issue at stake is currently at the FIFA players' Status Committee, which scrutinizes the data before taking decision on Asamoah's transfer fate," he said.

He said the matter has to reach that stage after both clubs fed different information, including the player's name and starting date of his new contract.

Kaijage also said that by the time the mistakes were noticed, the TFF registration period had elapsed and this now jeopardizes the player's chances of featuring for the club in the league.

He further said that FIFA directed TFF to submit key information on the player including the exact date when the transfer logistics started which Kaijage said, they have submitted.

"FIFA has the final say on the matter and for the time being Asamoah will not feature for his club, until the matter is resolved by the world governing body which has the mandate to endorse issuance of an ITC," he observed.

Effective this year, the TFF adopted the FIFA's transfer matching system, which is a web-based data entry programme used in the execution of player transfers between two professional clubs.

The new transfer matching system aims to facilitate the movement of players between two clubs, with the programme registering a copy of the transaction with the sport governing body.

Inputs to the programme are made by both clubs involved in the transfer and the date entered will have to match.
