Financially-stricken Bechem United embark on agriculture to raise funds ahead of new season

Cash-strapped Ghanaian side Bechem United are devising ways of raising revenue by venturing into agriculture.

The Bechem-based side are desperate to find the revenue required to excel in the Ghanaian top-flight this season.

The club is seeking to cut down on cost of feeding by embarking on agriculture as add-on.

Chief Executive Kingsley Osei Bonsu is confident the new initiative will help ease the financial burden of the club significantly.

“We have started the projects already and it is part of several avenues the club wants to gain resources to help us finance ourselves”, he told GazzettaGhana

“We have over thousand birds at the moment and there’s also a pig farm we have embarked on. All these are part of the club and it is really helping us.

“You know we feed our players twice a day and so the products of the poultry will be used to feed them whiles the birds will hit the market by the end of this year to supplement our finances.”

United survived relegation by a whisker last season after placing 12th.
