"FirsTust G-6 tourney is a good platform for those clubs to prepare ahead of the upcoming season" - GFA chief

Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has insisted that the FirsTrust G-6 tourney organized by GHALCA will serve as a good platform for the chosen Premier League clubs to prepare ahead of the upcoming season.

The maiden edition of the FirsTrust G-6 tourney includes league champions, AshantiGold ,Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea, Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars and FA cup holders Medeama,

The championship is billed to start on 7th January at the Essipong Stadium in the Western Region.

Premier League clubs have been dormant due to the delay to the start of the Premier League and the introduction of the G-6 is expected to serve as a relief to the participating clubs.

Speaking in an interview on the tournament, the Ghana FA President told radio360 in Takoradi that the event will be a good preparatory ground for the league.

“It is a good tournament. It is linked to the league because the six clubs chosen are all Premier League clubs."

"Some of the are clubs are also preparing for the forthcoming season so the tournament is a good platform to prepare the clubs for next season,” Nyantakyi opined.

All the FirsTrust G-6 games will be played at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
