Fit-again Kwadwo Asamoah admits extended injury spell was toughest period in his career
Kwadwo Asamoah has only returned to first team action at Juventus

Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah admits it has been tough being on the sidelines over an extended period to nurse an injury.

The 26-year-old has only returned to first team action after staying out for almost a year with a knee injury.

Asamoah was operated on last November to fix a knee problem and has since struggled to make a full recovery due to complications.

As a result, he sat out most parts of last season.

The former Udinese man however appears to have finally made his much-craved return to action after playing in Juventus’ 3-1 win over Bologna.

Asamoah admits he has gone through perhaps the most difficult part in his career dealing with the injury.

“It was a difficult time for me, because it’s something that has never happened to me in my career,” Asamoah told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was hard to stay at home for so long, my family helped me a lot and my team-mates have also been really helpful.

“It’s not been easy for me to sit out for so many months, it has been a time of growth for me.

“I’m training every day with the team in order to get back to full fitness.

“I can tell I’m improving day by day and I’m happy.

“By remaining on this track I’ll be back to my old self – my career is still a long one and I’ve got many years ahead of me.”
