Five ex-Ghana coaches apply for Kenya post

Posted On Thursday, 2nd August 2012

Goran Stevanovic wants to coach Kenya

Five former Ghana national team coaches have applied for the vacant Kenya coaching job.

The quintet includes Serbian trio Ratomir Dujkovic, Goran Stevanovic and Milovan Rajevac.

German trainer Otto Pfister and Italian Giuseppe Dossena complete the list of former Black Stars coach who want to handle the Harambee Stars.

Dujkovic led Ghana to her maiden FIFA World Cup finals in 2006 which was hosted by Germany.

He guided the Black Stars to a last 16 berth by losing to Brazil.

Compatriot Stevanovic was Ghana’s coach at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations but his inability to end a 20-year trophy drought cost him his job.

His predecessor was Rajevac who led the four-time African champions for two years.

The 58-year-old, described as Ghana’s most successful expatriate coach, finished second at the 2010 Nations Cup finals and a quarter-final finish at the FIFA World Cup finals the same year.

Rajevac also won silver at the maiden African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Ivory Coast in 2009.

Pfister was on the bench when Ghana lost out on penalties to the Ivory Coast at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was in-charge of the Ghana Under-17 team to win the 1991 FIFA Under-17 World Cup finals.

Other expatriates interested in the Kenya job are Adel Amrouche and Tom Saintfeit.

Well said my Brother, they must look for clubs in Europe or somewhere and let see. They shear their money in Africa with our corrupt official. Let them get work from somewhere else.

Kenya pls never employ Milovan. He’s a good coach but very greedy. No matter the amt u would give him, when vietnam or even barbados gives him +10%, he’ll leave u. A word to the wise…
