The new Premier League season kicked off last weekend with a flurry of bets and goals, including some unexpected results. The transfer window is still open, and with the transfers made and yet to be made, this is the season where a few Ghana players could really light up the most exciting league in the world.

Ghana stars and brothers Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew have both headed to England this summer after spending their entire career in France as they look to impress amongst the world's best.

Here's a look at five Ghanaians who could make a big impact in the Premier League this season:

Christian Atsu (Bournemouth)

Christian Atsu
The 23-year-old Christian Atsu joined Chelsea back in 2013 but has had limited opportunities so far and is yet to make his first-team debut for the current Premier League champions. In his first season he was sent out to their Dutch Eredivisie feeder club Vitesse where he impressed.

Last season he was sent out to fellow Premier League side Everton but seemingly failed to impress manager Roberto Martínez as he made only one start and four substitute appearances totalling 110 minutes last season.

Atsu has the opportunity to see much more action this season with newly-promoted Bournemouth. However, he needs to replace Marc Pugh first who was a regular on the left wing last season where he scored nine goals and assisted a further nine.

The Ghana star is a great dribbler but last time we saw him play he needed to upgrade his skills in the final third – both his decision-making and final ball. We certainly expect him to play more than five games this season but he’ll need to help his side defensively and contribute in attack if he’s to be a regular.

Jordan Ayew (Aston Villa)

Jordan Ayew
Aston Villa have spent much of the summer making changes to their attacking players' Christian Benteke (Liverpool), Andreas Weimann (Derby County) and Darren Bent (Derby County) have all left, whilst Jordan Ayew (Lorient), Rudy Gestede (Blackburn Rovers) and Scott Sinclair (Manchester City) have all joined in attack to support Gabby Agbonlahor.

Jordan Ayew is still only 23 years old but his career feels like it has gone downhill over the past two years since being a regular in the Marseille team. He's spent time on loan at Sochaux before joining Loriant last season.

He’s a good dribbler who is capable of scoring from long range and should get a lot of time in Tim Sherwood's team as one of four forwards or strikers for the boss to choose from. With a price tag of £9 million, you certainly expect Ayew to be in the manager's mind as a regular first-team player.

Andre Ayew (Swansea City)

Jordan Ayew's older brother has also moved to the Premier League, joining Swansea City on a free transfer this summer. Andre Ayew has been a top player for Marseille for five years and is coming off a 10-goal season in Ligue 1.

The Ghana star is part of a very exciting Swansea City side who have a few options in attacking midfield. Ayew will be competing with Jefferson Montero to start on the left wing of a 4-2-3-1 system that Garry Monk utilises.

A good dribbler, helps out defensively, and chips in with a few goals each season. If there is one weak point to Ayew's game is that he doesn't create many goals for the position he plays. Mind you, Montero hasn't done much of that either for Swansea.

Jefffrey Schlupp (Leicester City)

Jeff Schlupp of Leicester City celebrates scoring to make it 1-0 during the Barclays Premier League match between Leicester City FC and Burnley at The King Power Stadium on October 4, 2014 in Leicester, England.
The one player on our list who is playing for the same club this season as he did last, Jeffrey Schlupp has a new manager at Leicester City this season.

Schlupp has played left wing and left-back for the Foxes and it will be interesting to see if or where he fits into Claudio Ranieri's team. They have acquired Christian Fuchs from Schalke 04 to play left-back this season, although the Austrian isn't the best defender and has played left wing at times over the past couple of years.

Youngster Ben Chilwell could break into the Leicester first-team this year. The 18-year-old arguably already the best defensively of these three by some margin but doesn't have any first-team experience.

Jeffrey Schlupp is very quick and does get himself in goalscoring positions on counter-attacks but his finishing has been woeful during his Leicester career.

Baba Rahman (Chelsea?)

Baba Rahman is likely to join Chelsea
Ghana's young, promising left-back is headed to Chelsea if the latest newspaper reports are correct.

Baba Rahman was a big part of FC Augsburg's shock fifth-place finish in the German Bundesliga last season and the Blues are strongly linked with a big money move for him after selling Filipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid.

Should he move to Stamford Bridge we wouldn't expect to see too much of him Filipe Luis was a highly-rated full-back who'd just won the Spanish La Liga and played in the Champions League final when he signed for Chelsea but only made 14 appearances last season.

Cesar Azpilicueta is the undisputed first-choice left-back for Jose Mourinho but whoever they sign as his backup will see some action. Rahman offers a good attacking option from full-back.
