Atsu is among the top five Ghana players at the World Cup

Ghana’s World Cup run ended earlier than they would’ve hoped as they failed to survive the tournament’s dreaded “Group of Death.”

But despite coming up short, the Black Stars still made a mark in their brief time in the tournament.

These five players, while they didn't push Ghana to the point of being found amongst the list of contenders as official favourites to win World Cup, starred for the Black Stars on the big stage, which may just translate to good things for their club careers in the near future.

Asamoah Gyan

Ghana's captain Asamoah Gyan was one of the Black Stars' outstanding players at the World Cup.

The UAE-based player was under criticism for his his choice of playing for Al Ain but showed no signs of losing his sharpness when he scored two spectacular goals for Ghana in the matches against Germany and Portugal.

Despite talks by several leading analysts for him to leave the UAE, Gyan is poised to extend his contract in the UAE.

Kwadwo Asamoah

The Juventus star was played in his unusual left-back position for the Black Stars but was one of Ghana's excellent players at the tournament.

He was excellent in stopping the Germans as well as Cristiano Ronaldo. His exquisite cross for Gyan showed his immense qwuality.

Andre Ayew Ayew’s World Cup performance was one his father, the great Abedi Pele, would’ve been proud of. The winger finished as the team’s joint-top scorer with two goals, both of which erased deficits against the U.S.A. and Germany.

The 24-year old has spent his entire club career in France, but now might be the right time to move on. Coming off a terrific World Cup campaign, Ayew will have no shortage of big clubs calling his current club Marseille for his signature.

Christian Atsu On the wing opposite Ayew, the 22-year old Atsu dazzled the quality defenses of the United States and Germany with his pace and trickery, justifying why English giants Chelsea snapped him up last year.

Atsu spent last season on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem last season, but he won’t be returning to the club next season. Although a return to Chelsea seems unlikely, his strong World Cup showing could still see him land in England on loan at a Premier League club for the upcoming campaign.

Fatawu Dauda Despite featuring just three times for his club, the Orlando Pirates, last season, Dauda showed little signs of rust between the sticks in the World Cup. Dauda didn’t feature in the opener against the U.S.A., but he played a key part in helping Ghana claim a 2-2 draw with the Germans and made a spectacular save against reigning FIFA Balon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. After holding his own against the best in the world, he may just get a few more games for the Pirates next season.
