Renowned Ghanaian coach Isaac ‘Opeele’ Boateng has suggested five tactical ways Asante Kotoko must employ to beat Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
The Phobians will be hosting their arch rivals in the latest instalment of the Super Clash in the Ghana Premier League.
Both teams are going into the game in pretty much good form haven secured wins in their opening Premier League matches last weekend.
Coach Isaac Boateng now comes in with his five things Kotoko must do to secure another famous win over Hearts.
1 Kotoko must make use of Owusu Bempah’s overlaps
Asante Kotoko ought to make very good use of the space to be created at the Hearts rear due to the surging overlaps of Owusu Bempah. Richard Mpong can especially exploit this opportunity but must improve on his final deliveries.
2 Kotoko must score first.
A first goal for Asante Kotoko will go a long way into helping them win the match or avoid a defeat. It will be crucial for the Porcupine Warriors not to fall behind as it will prove a difficult task to equalize and go on to beat Hearts in Accra.
3 Get pass Samson Cudjoe
Kotoko must find a way to render Hearts’ defensive midfielder Samson Cudjoe ineffective. A good day for the former Medeama man could scupper every attacking move of Kotoko on the day.
4 Quick transition
I believe Hearts will be doing most of the attacking and the taking of initiatives since they are playing at home and would want to score goals. This presents another opportunity for Kotoko to be effective on the counter attacks but their transition from defence to attack must be swift in order to catch the Hearts defence pants down.
5 Dramani tactics
Mas-Ud Dramani must be on top of his game on Sunday as he was battered and bruised in the last match between the two sides by his opposite number last season. He must be able to read and counter the numerous tactical variations expected of David Duncan during the game. He must also be quick enough to read the substitutions from the Hearts gaffer.
