Outpourings of support from football players and clubs followed a fatal attack in Barcelona on Thursday in which a van plowed into pedestrians, causing at least one fatality.
Barcelona, which is scheduled to open its La Liga season at home on Sunday, posted a brief message on Twitter.
Deeply saddened by the attack on our city. All our thoughts are with the victims, their families and with the people of Barcelona.

Espanyol, the city's other Primera Division club, wrote: "The most beautiful city in the world, our city. We suffer with you and with all Barcelonians."

Girona, based just outside the city, added: "Dismayed by the attack in Barcelona. All our support to the victims, their families and the city. Girona is with you."

A number of players also expressed their condolences, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, whose Real Madrid side defeated Barcelona to win the Spanish Super Cup a day earlier.
Ronaldo wrote: "Dismayed by events in Barcelona. All my support and solidarity with the victims and their friends."
Real Madrid also released an official statement on their website, saying: "Real Madrid express their deepest dismay at the attack suffered in the city of Barcelona and their solidarity with the victims and their families and friends, at the same time as wishing a speedy recovery to those injured."
