Emmanuel Adebayor has received support from an unlikely source - former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker has endured a difficult season, losing his place in the side amid taking leave to return to Togo to sort out family problems.

Adebayor has kept largely quiet on the issues, but that changed this week when he wrote a lengthy post on his Facebook page.

He addressed financial issues and his over-generosity, claiming his family members had taken advantage of him.

He wrote: "It's true that family matters should be solved internally and not in public but I am doing this so that hopefully all families can learn from what happened in mine."

Former Arsenal trainee Emmanuel Frimpong used his Twitter page to state he had read Adebayor's post, and resultantly felt grateful he was not suffering the same problems.

Adebayor has struggled on the field for Spurs this campaign, scoring only two goals, and has one year remaining on his current contract.

His future looks to lie away from White Hart Lane, but going public detailing some of the issues which have proved a distraction may elicit a little sympathy for him from fans and the club hierarchy, intentional or not.
