Former Asante Kotoko defender Joseph Ochaya scored the only goal of the match for Uganda as they claimed a handsome 1-0 win over Togo in Lome in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday.
The 21-year-old lateral defender scored at Stade Kegue with a glancing header from a Farouk Miya free-kick five minutes before half-time in the first leg of a second-round tie.
Uganda had played 17 previous away qualifiers since debuting against Zambia in 1977, losing 15 and drawing two.
Ochaya played for Kotoko during the 2013/14 season but left to return to Kampala City Council FC.
His goal has put the Cranes in control going into the reverse fixture in Kampala next week.
