Former AshantGold striker Augustine Arhinful believes the club can go on to dominate the Premier League after grabbing their first top flight title in 19 years.
The Miners secured the First Capital Plus League with a game to spare following last weekendââ¬â¢s 1-0 home win over West African Football Academy.
The success of Bashir Hayfordââ¬â¢s side is only the clubââ¬â¢s fourth in all and their first in a staggering 19-year period.
But Arhinful who was part of AshGoldââ¬â¢s most dominant era between 1993-96 believes the club is now well placed to go on to win successive titles after breaking their Premier League trophy drought.
ââ¬ÅThey [AshGold] have a very good training pitch in Anyinam in Obuasi, closer to where the boys live and also the Len Clay Sports Stadium is not of bad quality at all,â⬠the former Black Stars striker told TV3.
ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢m not surprised that with all these things before them theyââ¬â¢ve been able to come out and they are now the champions of Ghana.ââ¬
ââ¬ÅDonââ¬â¢t be surprised that next year they can also win. It will depend on how they are going to maintain their side because even before the season end they would have sold one or two players outside.ââ¬
AshGold will also be making a return to the CAF Champions League as the sole representatives of Ghana.
The Miners reached the finals of Africaââ¬â¢s flagship club competition back in 1997 where they were beaten on penalties by Moroccan club Raja de Casablanca.
