Ex-Ghana shot stopper Abukari Damba has backed Razak Braimah to be the number one for the Black Stars ahead of the side’s clash with the Pharaohs of Egypt.

Razak Brimah has been the first choice goalie for coach Avram Grant since his appointment in 2014 and continues to be despite being bench at club side.

But Damba says it is always good for Avram Grant to stick to Brimah to maintain the confidence in him.

“Despite all the bashing from the media, Avram Grant has shown that he has confidence in Razak Brimah and that is what every coach needs. Every coach wants to maintain confidence in the players that he feels comfortable playing,” Damba said.

“Maintaining confidence in the player makes him perform better,” he added.

He added that Brimah has been more consistent with the Black Stars since 2014 than any other goalkeeper in the team now.

“One thing we must also not forget is that Razak has been with the team and have played several games so they know him better. The cooperation between Razak and the team is better than any other goalkeeper in the team,” Damba concluded.

Razak Brimah is facing competition from Rosenborg goalie Adam Kwarasey and Wa All Stars goalie Richard Ofori.

Damba was a member of the Black Stars squad that won silve at the 1992 Afcrica Cup of Nations.
