Former Ghana First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has backed the Black Princesses to excel at the ongoing FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.

The Ghanaians started the tournament on a blistering note after beating host Canada 1-0 on Tuesday.

The Africans will take on Asian giants Korea DPR on Friday in their second group A game and the country’s former First Lady has backed the team to thrive.

“I want to congratulate the girls for winning their opening game. They did us proud and we must only hope they can continue to excel,” she told Accra-based Asempa FM

“I watched the game late night and they did well. Of course there is always room for improvement but I believe they will put their gear on in the second game.

“They need our collective effort and I am convinced that they can win the title for us.

“We should continue to support and pray for them.”

Ghana coach Bashir Hayford took massive positives from his side’s opening win and declared they could win the ultimate.
