Former Ghana goalie Damba has advice for Burkina on Soulama

Former Ghana international goalkeeper Abukari Damba is advising Burkina Faso's Paul Put to drop first choice Abdoulaye Soulama over psychological reasons.

The 33-year-old who plays for Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko lost his father during the Stallions' 4-0 drubbing of Ethiopia, a game he was also red-carded.

Soulama has not featured for Burkina since the Stallions recorded the heaviest victory of the competition in the second Group C game.

Damba who was goalkeepers' trainer at Hearts of Oak, thinks it will not be a wise decision for Burkina Faso to throw Soulama into the post.

"He would like to show Ghanaians how good he is and could concede cheap goals as a result," he told Accra-based Happy FM.

"Secondly there is an issue with his match fitness because he hasn't played since he was red-carded he might be training.

"And, he lost father too so he might not be psychologically ready for the game and he will also like to over impress because he is playing against Ghana.

Ghana have an inside knowledge of Soulama - having regard of the fact that Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu was the head coach of Kotoko last season - a club Soulama has spent over three seasons with.
