Former Ghana Premier League Goal King Nana Poku has made an astonishing revelation of earning a paltry $20 as month salary during his three-year spell at the country's second-tier side Berekum Arsenal.

Poku, who is now on the roaster of Egyptian outfit El Makasa, won the Premier League goal king crown in the 2010-11 season.

The striker has revealed he took home a derisory $20 as monthly salary during his time with the former Premier League campaigners.

“I was taking 80 GHC a month as my pay and with even that the payment could delay up to three months and you get a month’s pay," he told Kumasi-based Metro FM

It was difficult but I wasn’t bothered much because I knew what I was working for. I knew what I wanted to achieve and kept on doing my job very well. So that was my motivation.”

Reports of player receiving ridiculous salaries at clubs in Ghana  and Africa are well documented.
