Former Ghana star Odartey Lamptey regrets Aston Villa move

Former Black Stars ace Nii Odartey Lamptey has stated that his move English Premier League side, Aston Villa was his worse decision during his playing career.

Lamptey, who is one of the most celebrated players in the West African country, endured a difficult spell at the English club after joining on loan from Belgian side Anderlecht.

The 45-year-old who is now into Coaching says he joined the English Club at the wrong time.

“The move to Aston Villa was the worst decision of my career that I still regret till today,” he told Atinka FM.

“The timing wasn’t right. The type of football in England didn’t suit me.”

However, the Ghanaian international failed to find the back of the net in a total of 10 matches.

The 1991 FIFA U17 World Cup winner also played for the likes of Coventry City Ankaragücü, Greuther Fürth and PSV.
