Former Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah finally got his chance to impress Ghana coach Avram Grant after coming off the bench to play in the Black Stars' 1-1 draw with Canada in Tuesday international friendly.

The 24-year-old lateral defender stepped out of the dug-out on the hour-mark to take the place of Getafe's Bernard Mensah and he gave a good account of himself.

The HJK Helsinki defender shored up the backline and Grant shuffled his tactics midway through the second-half with Leicester City wing-half Jeffrey Schlupp routing to an attacking role as the team went all out in search of the winner.

Baah, who was named on a Uefa Europa League team of the competition's group stage last season, got into the limelight after excelling a Ghanaian football reality show and training with English side Chelsea in London.

He went ahead to join Asante Kotoko before moving to Finland where he currently plays for HJK after an initial spell with Honka FC.

Canada, ranked 104 on the FIFA ranking, scored first through Kansas Sporting City midfielder Marcel de Jong in the 29th minute before Middlesbrough attacker Albert Adomah cancelled the lead for the Black Stars.
