During an interview with Four Four Two - via Sport Witness - former Newcastle United striker and Colombian legend Faustino Asprilla has exclusively revealed how, during his time with the Magpies, manager Kenny Dalglish was mad at him because he partied too hard.

After joining Newcastle United from Italian club Parma in 1996, Asprilla soon became a firm fan favourite with his silky skills and unusual style - now, many years later, the 47-year-old reveals how he almost missed the iconic game against Barcelona at St. James' Park because he was late partying with 'a lot of girls' right after international duty, instead of returning to England.

“I almost didn’t play,'' Aspirilla admits. ''I’d been away on international duty, but instead of going back to Newcastle I went to my ranch and had a party with lots of girls.

“Kenny Dalglish was furious, but before kick-off he read out the line-up and I was in. My first goal was a penalty before a couple of headers from Keith Gillespie crosses. “I will never forget the Newcastle fans singing my name. I didn’t understand them as it was in Geordie, but I could still tell that they were really happy.”
